Is Self-consciousness the Same as Self-Awareness 1a

“Gimme some skin” is an oxymoronic construct of human language. The reality is that, on a material level, we live, move and have our being inside of the largest organ of the human body—the skin. And when we think about our skin, it is more often than not, only surface deep. But the skin is, in and of itself, a very complex organ.

Synopsis of Part One

130:4.7 Life is an adaptation of the original cosmic causation to the demands and possibilities of universe situations, and it comes into being by the action of the Universal Mind and the activation of the spirit spark of the God who is spirit. The meaning of life is its adaptability; the value of life is its progressability — even to the heights of God-consciousness.

In the previous article…Personality in Relationship to Self-Consciousness, Self-awareness…and the Spiritual Level of God-consciousness…A New Theory of Consciousness…Part One…we learned the following:

  • Color is not an inherent quality of objects in the world around us.
  • The human brain extends to its outermost protrusion–the human eye.
  • The human eye “colorizes” the light signals coming into the brain, converting these light photons into electrical signals which pass through the optic nerves and are viewed as a picture of the outer world, at the very back of the brain, and behind two inches of skull.
  • We can never know the world directly. All we can really know is a representation of the world, because we live, move and have our being within the outer layers of the human skin and contact with material reality through our five senses.
  • The brain itself is easily programmable, easily addicted, and quickly fills up with expectations, preconceptions, prejudices and stereotypes.
  • At the level of the brain receiving electrical signal impulses through the five senses…the human animal brain within a material body is a living material mechanism. The brain itself is like a finely tuned radio receiver that is constrained to operate within a very narrow band of light and sound frequencies.
  • The average individual knows that he exists–I am–but has very little interest in exerting the great effort required to understand his existence.
  • The spirit spark of life originates from the Universal Father, the Absolute Thought-Pattern Reality, through the Voice–Word Made Manifest in the Eternal Son and brought into actuality by the Infinite Spirit Mind–the Universal Mind. This spirit spark of life-force is more than energy. And it is an utter mystery.

What is Life?

Where does it come from?

But here is the question that is the real mind bender.

  • What if there is no distinction of consciousness at the level of “Universal Consciousness–the Totality of Consciousness—the so-called Unified Field in quantum physics?
  • In other words, what if the only distinction of consciousness occurs when consciousness is “individuated” into a chemical life-form pattern or pattern reality that is responsive to the Totality of Consciousness?
  • Is this where both mind and personality come together into that form or pattern reality, which then localizes–gives boundary to—collapses into consciousness–self awareness–reflective awareness of circumscribed boundaries of sensory perception–the five senses?

The standard dictionary definition of consciousness is

con·scious·ness
‘känCH?sn?s/
noun
noun: consciousness
1.
the state of being awake and aware of one’s surroundings.
“she failed to regain consciousness and died two days later”
  • the awareness or perception of something by a person.
    plural noun: consciousnesses
“her acute consciousness of Mike’s presence”
  • the fact of awareness by the mind of itself and the world.

I will alter the last definition by the addition of one word: self-awareness. This is our starting point to understand a much deeper level of consciousness: the seven levels of mind mirror reflectivity to the focal point of personality which is the center of free will choice.

The ending point of the deepest level of the consciousness we will attempt to explore, multiple times. This level is referred to as soul consciousness—the consciousness of being conscious–the experientially evolving and super conscious soul recognition of spiritual values and spiritual realities.

The Chemically Addictive Nature of the Brain

As I grew and matured, I began to awaken to the fact that I had multiple addictions to overcome. These addictions were wholly due to mimicking the addictive behaviors displayed by mother, father, grandmother, uncles, aunts and cousins. Overcoming them was one of the most difficult challenges of my young adulthood.

At the deepest and darkest point of my own “dark night of the soul,” I was literally “fighting for my life.” I had to struggle and fight to break free from these addictive behaviors, going to the extraordinary lengths of week long fasting, eating and drinking nothing but organic fruit juices and purified water.

I have encountered many individuals, over the course of my life, who also appeared to be enslaved to the five senses and addictive behaviors.

  • Have you ever met anyone who is wholly preoccupied with the smell and taste of food?
  • Have you ever known anyone who was so wholly preoccupied with sports they want nothing to do with, nor discuss any other topic with anyone who is not into sports?

When you try to talk to an individual who is enslaved to the five senses, they show little or no interest in any other matters pertaining to mind and spirit. In this segment of our exploration, we are taking a much deeper look at the level of the five senses.

What happens when an individual is either born with the lack of capacity or stops developing the capacity for spiritual receptivity?

(556.3) 48:7.3 1  A display of specialized skill does not signify possession of spiritual capacity. Cleverness is not a substitute for true character. At the level of the five senses, both the individual and the collective view of life and reality are inside out, upside down and backwards.

  • Truth is inverted to become a lie.
  • Beauty is inverted to become ugliness.
  • Goodness is inverted to become evil.

A few examples of this are readily observable.

  • Doctors (Medical Industry as a whole) destroy health
  • Lawyers (the whole of the legal system) destroy justice.
  • Kindergartens, Grade Schools, High Schools and Universities (the whole of the educational system) destroy knowledge by repetitive programming of the brain-mind-intellect system to regurgitate facts, which so-called facts are also distorted—lies.
  • Governments (the whole of the governing system) destroy freedom.
  • Major Media channels (the whole of mass media) destroy information.
  • Religions (the whole of religious systems) destroy spirituality.

At the level of the five senses whole societies are easily controlled, enslaving them to the matrix of the institutional system—the programmable reptilian brain-system.

Noel Coward stated:

Is Self-consciousness the Same as Self-Awareness 5

“It’s discouraging to think how many people are shocked by honesty and how few by deceit.”

Body: At the level of the five senses

  • the body-brain reactions to external stimuli are virtually the same as the rest of the animal world.
  • The brain is easily addicted to any and all external stimuli, unable to distinguish between the external stimuli and the internal experience.
  • The mind has little opportunity to function.
  • The concept of a Creator or God may have little or no meaning.

Mind: At the level of the five senses

  • the mind is concerned with and focused upon things and the explanation of the phenomena.
  • The mind itself cannot be distinguished from the material brain.
  • The resulting philosophy is often atheistic, godless.
  • Reality appears to be a matrix, a virtual construct over which mind gains increasing control as its own god.
  • By this act of continuous accumulation of power, this construct must be imposed upon everyone and everything, making it a slave to the matrix and its master programmer(s)—the programmable reptilian center of brain domination by mind.

science: A the level of the five senses

  • science that never evolves beyond the five senses is almost wholly focused upon things as symbols and metaphors.
  • The mind itself cannot be distinguished from the material brain.
  • Science, at this level, is often atheistic, godless.
  • Reality appears to be a matrix, a virtual construct over which mind gains increasing control as its own god.

It is imperative to understand these relationships to, with, and in the external world of concepts and things, if the origins of consciousness, self-awareness and God-consciousness are to be clearly apprehended, clearly grasped.

In Part Three, we are going to begin to try to apprehend and clearly grasp just why the mystery of “life” is “mystery” and will remain…a mystery…and how consciousness, self-awareness and God-consciousness begin their evolutionary unfolding in the human animal brain.

Let us end Part Two with this quote:

(404.4) 36:6.6  We speak of life as “energy” and as “force,” but it is really neither. Force-energy is variously gravity responsive; life is not. Pattern is also nonresponsive to gravity, being a configuration of energies that have already fulfilled all gravity-responsive obligations. Life, as such, constitutes the animation of some pattern-configured or otherwise segregated system of energy — material, mindal, or spiritual. –The Urantia Book, Paper 36, The Life Carriers
