Looney Tunes

(Written 1999)

“Holiness or Hell” is the sign he had on
as he rode his Radio Flyer down Vista Boulevard
some nuts like to roll down hill into the valley, today

In America, if you believe what they say
you must wear your beliefs on public display
and if you’re one of the nuts–just stay out of my way

Some nuts like to travel fast–going nowhere
and some like to take a slow train
it’s when you don’t know if you’re comin’ or you’re goin’
it doesn’t matter much, anyway

“Holiness or Hell,” in my mind you smell
like something undergoing slow decay
fear creates such distortion in the mirror
you might as well go back to living in a cave

From holy rollers to the moonies to
full moon howling, two-legged loonies
you let your demons poke their heads out to play
you dance with lunar madness in your brains

“Holiness or Hell” is the sign he had on
as he rode his Radio Flyer down Vista Boulevard
some nuts like to roll down hill into the valley, today

Some nuts like to travel fast–going nowhere
and some like to take a slow train
it’s when you don’t know if you’re comin’ or you’re goin’
it doesn’t matter much, anyway

“Holiness or Hell,” in my mind you smell
like something undergoing slow decay
fear creates such distortion in the mirror
you might as well go back to living in a cave
